Edward Bass is a famous producer known for his strong opinions and incredible knack of choosing the right actors and actresses for the right roles. He was able to independently produce five quality pictures in a span of two years. He is driven by the creative and insightful aspects of production in the film industry. His adeptness for the job was inspired early on in his when Edward Bass, and his family alternated between ski trips and weekends in New York and vacation in Las Vegas and arranged backstage visits with Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Milton Berle whose career he later managed.
Aside from being a film producer, he was also active in addressing social concerns. His move in appearing between Ronald Reagan and Ryan White (a young man infected with HIV from a contaminated blood treatment that was later expelled from his high school) pushed Reagan out of his seclusion into publicly endorsing AIDS research. He was also a champion of orphans and developed “Toyskis for Totskis “while he was in St. Petersburg. The program distributed toys and funds for basic necessities to all orphans across Russia. Already busy with his charitable works, Edward Bass seems to have an undying energy for other activities as well. He established a modeling agency in Paris, published in the Metropolitan Magazine with many political commentaries and columns worldwide and became a director of a European Racetrack with over three hundred fifty employees. In one event, he organized a tribute to John Gary, who was afflicted with Cancer. His name and popularity brought many celebrities to join in the tribute Perry Como, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mathis, Ann Margaret, Liza Minnelli and Mel Torme. The Tribute was a resounding success grossing a huge amount of money, which helped extend John’s life.
For this man of many talents, Edward Bass gives as much as he gets, that is why a lot of people consider themselves fortunate by having known him.
